Extraction of fibers from plant sources really took a long time to begin with!
Our finding of this enzyme really helps in reducing that time up to 70%! This enzyme was isolated from an indigenous microbe which is able to ret the fibers from plant sources in only three days.
Research on kenaf has been conducted and fibers have been extracted from kenaf bast within three days of bio retting process. Journals have been published on this research in Bioresources (2016) entitled “Efficacy of Aspergillus fumigatus R6 pectinase in enzymatic retting of kenaf” and in Industrial Crops and Products (2017) entitled “Optimization of cultural conditions for polygalacturonase production by a newly isolated Aspergillus fumigatus R6 capable of retting kenaf“.
Currently, ACeT Innovates is conducting research of using the enzymes on other types of crops.
